This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled Treasures of the Harem designed from a painting by Harold Piffard shows a striking, dark-haired woman wearing a vivid pink headscarf and a striped shawl draped over her shoulders as she looks up from an ornate wooden chest filled with golden jewelry. In creating this piece, Piffard wanted to capture the exoticism and allure of Orientalist themes, finding inspiration in the dramatic contrast of shimmering silks and treasures against a dark, moody background. The visual palette is a captivating mix of deep teals, bold fuchsia pinks, and warm golden ochres, beautifully highlighted by the luminous skin tones of the central figure. This pattern is for lovers of late Victorian and Edwardian narrative art who appreciate the masterly way an artist can use deep shadows to make rich fabrics and gleaming jewels pop. The scene captures an intimate moment in which the woman seems preoccupied with something that has caught her attention.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
