This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled Zenobia's Last Look on Palmyra designed from a painting by Herbert Gustave Schmalz shows the majestic Queen Zenobia standing on a high stone terrace gazing down at her ancient city of Syria and the Palmyrene Empire and watching it being destroyed. Of note is that she is in chains made of gold. When her husband had been assassinated, she became emboldened to conquer and expand her realm across Egypt and Asia Minor as a challenge to see what the Roman leader would do. As a result, the Roman Emperor Aurelian accepted the challenge and defeated Queen Zenobia's armies and took Palmyra. This scene is highly detailed with texture, nuance, and color and will make a spectacular finished work of art to grace an area of distinction in your home. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
