This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled The Young Gallant designed from a painting by Frederick Morgan shows a spirited and charming rural scene where a young boy playfully carries a laughing girl across a shallow, sunlit stream. In creating this piece, Morgan wanted to emphasize the chivalrous and innocent nature of childhood friendships, capturing a fleeting moment of gallantry and pure joy in the English countryside. The visual palette is a warm, earthy collection of golden wheat tones and soft river-stone greys, beautifully punctuated by the crisp whiteness of the girl's dress and the vibrant yellow of the wildflowers she clutches. This pattern is for lovers of Victorian genre painting and nostalgic, pastoral art like myself who appreciate the masterly way 19th-century artists rendered the play of light on water and the expressive, lively faces of children. The scene captures the lively charm of a late summer afternoon, where the splashing of the brook and the sound of distant laughter bring the landscape to life.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
