This fantasy counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Last of the Gairfowl designed from a painting by Jessie Willcox Smith shows a young boy sitting on a stoop listening to the lectures of a Gairfowl (Penguin) which is the last of its kind and is becoming extinct.  The air is full of other fowl and clouds surround this scene.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
