This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Girls Crossing the Brook designed from a painting by Thomas Doughty shows two girls crossing a brook, the older one balancing a basket on her head while the younger lifts her dress up so as not to get her underskirts wet.  The territory is colorful and full of rolling hills, a forest full of tall trees leaning in uncommon fashion and a sky that seems to have adequate sunlight enough to at least get them back home.  The colors in this scene are reminiscent of early fall with earth tones and rust colors.  The trees seem to provide heavily dense shade enough to shield them from the sun.  This is a very interesting landscape created by the artist and would make an interesting, finished pattern.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
