This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled Scene of the Spreewald designed from a painting by Walter Moras shows a tranquil river winding through a slender, sun-drenched forest where the early spring or late autumn light casts a silvery glow over the water. In creating this piece, the artist wanted to emphasize the delicate, vertical rhythm of the birch and willow trees as they reflect in the glassy surface of the canal. The visual palette is a masterclass in subtlety, featuring soft greys, pale creams, and muted sage greens, all illuminated by a hazy, atmospheric light that gives the landscape an almost ethereal quality. This pattern is for nature lovers and landscape enthusiasts like myself who appreciate the quiet, poetic realism of 19th-century German art and the peaceful, meditative beauty of the Spreewald’s unique wetlands. The scene captures the silence of a secluded woodland, where the only sound heard is the gentle, rhythmic flow of the river against the mossy banks.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
