This gemstone beauty counted cross stitch pattern entitled Sapphire designed by Tracey Marvel Kramer showcases the Sapphire gemstone and how bold and beautiful it looks on our model. Sapphire is the birthstone for the month of September. It has long been a symbol of our blue skies and the heavens above. This stone was worn by kings who felt it protected them from harm, envy and infidelity. Ancient Egyptians used this stone ground up in powder mixed with copper oxide to form a rudimentary eyewash to treat eye stress and improve and sharpen vision. In ancient Christianity, the sapphire is mentioned in (Exodus 24:10) saying that God’s throne is made of lapis lazuli which was another name for sapphire, but in modern times, it is known as the blue corundum variety. In the book of Revelations Chapter 21, when God announces his return to govern his new city, sapphires are mentioned as the second stone to adorn the new city wall. Sapphires have been found in Shri Lanka, Madagascar and Australia. The symbolic traits associated with Sapphire are truth, honor, dignity, loyalty, faith, wisdom, fidelity, romantic love, industriousness, and strong leadership.
