This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled Marianna Marchesa Florenzi designed from a painting by Joseph Karl Stieler shows a poised Italian noblewoman in regal elegance, adorned in a rich brick-red velvet gown and a delicate forehead pendant against a soft interior setting. Her bodice is low-cut and lined with lace.  She is sitting very poised in a golden, ornate, gilded chair.  You can almost imagine the gentle scent of sweet jasmine and polished mahogany drifting on a light evening breeze. In addition to being a noblewoman,  Marianna Marchesa Florenzi, born Marianna Bacinetti in 1802, was also a translator. Known as one of the most cultured women of her era, she studied natural sciences at the University of Perugia and translated philosophical works into Italian. She was a lifelong close friend and confidante of King Ludwig I of Bavaria, who commissioned court painter Joseph Karl Stieler to paint her portrait for his renowned Gallery of Beauties at Nymphenburg Palace.  Our patterns use only full cross stitches.  No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
