This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Girlhood of Mary Virgin designed from a painting by Dante Gabriel Rossetti portrays Mary as a young girl stitching or performing embroidery on a cloth that is on a stand. I doubt the real Mary was doing this, but this is the artist's personal view. Alongside of Mary is an older woman who is teaching Mary the art of stitchery while a small angel with rose-colored wings is close by observing the lesson. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
