This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled An Estuary Scene, designed from a painting by Jan Van Goyen, shows a change in weather with an impending squall approaching pretty quickly as the boats move inland to escape its path.  We can see the changes in the weather by the cloud formation, which starts in deep midnight blues mixed with silver and gray to light blues, light gray, silver, and ecru.  The drama created in the sky is forever changing, and the waters have turned a liquid brown and almost white, partially mimicking the drama in the sky.  The ships are heavily laden with their crews and supplies as they prepare for the storm.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
