This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Hope in the Prison of Despair designed from a painting by Evelyn de Morgan shows an allegorical representation of hope and despair shown by two women in prison.  The woman representing hope is holding a lamp and is seen walking towards the the woman who represents despair.  Hope is shown with a halo over her head as she is strong in her faith, believes in God's power of deliverance that someday they will be released while Despair is crouched low, is hiding her face in an old gray cloak, and assumes the worst of outcomes in their situation.  The colors in this scene are bold, yet have that watercolor effect which makes it all the more interesting.  This is a beautiful pattern and that has a strong message.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
